Empower Concierge Care provider
Meet Your Provider

Hi, I'm Jessica

Jessica P. Schexnayder, PT, DPT — Doctor of Physical Therapy

I started Empower for people who want more than a rushed appointment and a generic sheet of exercises — care that's thoughtful, personal, and actually connected to your life.

With 17 years of physical therapy experience since earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy from LSUHSC-Shreveport in 2009, I built a practice where your care can blend physical therapy, strength training, and nutrition, so the plan feels like one story instead of being scattered across separate providers.

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy — LSUHSC-Shreveport, 2009 · 17 years of experience
  • Certified: Active Release Techniques (ART), Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (ASTYM), Functional Dry Needling Levels 1 & 2, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist & Certified Nutrition Coach
  • Specialties: orthopedics, balance & endurance, recovery from illness, pregnancy-related neck, back, arm & leg pain, neurological care, and pediatric orthopedics & recovery

Questions, answered up front

The things most people want to know before reaching out.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

In most cases, no. You can start care directly, so there's no waiting on a referral or a doctor's note to begin working toward your goals.

What does it cost, and do you take insurance?

Empower keeps care personal, private, and direct. Sessions are private-pay, and we do not accept insurance.

How long is a session?

Physical therapy and personal training sessions are 50 focused minutes, one-on-one, every visit — no double-booking and no rushing. Nutrition coaching is a 30-minute televisit.

Where do sessions happen?

Sessions take place in our newly renovated therapy office and gym at 10621 North Oak Hills Parkway, Baton Rouge, LA 70810. Off-site sessions may be available upon request.

What happens at my first physical therapy visit?

Your initial evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to identify the cause of your symptoms and create a personalized plan for recovery. Your physical therapist will review your history, goals, and current concerns, followed by a detailed movement assessment that may include range of motion testing, strength testing, posture analysis, and functional movement evaluation.

Hands-on care such as manual therapy may be used during the visit when appropriate to help improve mobility and reduce pain. Based on your findings, you will receive a customized treatment plan that may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, education, and a home exercise program to support your progress between visits.

Our goal is to help you move better, feel better, and return to the activities you enjoy with confidence.

What happens at my first personal training session?

Your initial assessment is a comprehensive evaluation designed to understand your current fitness level, movement patterns, and overall health so we can create a fully personalized training plan.

This session includes a static and dynamic movement assessment to evaluate how your body moves at rest and during functional movements, along with a posture analysis to identify imbalances or compensations. We also take basic biometric measurements as appropriate to help track progress over time.

Based on your assessment, you may be guided through introductory exercises to establish proper form and movement quality. You will also receive general exercise recommendations tailored to your goals, as well as basic nutrition guidance to support your training and results.

Our goal is to build a strong foundation so you can train safely, efficiently, and effectively while working toward your health and performance goals.

Is concierge care right for me?

Every visit is one-on-one, and every therapy or exercise session is built around your current status and your goals — not a template. If you've felt rushed through care before, or you want one provider who looks at the whole picture instead of one sore spot, it's a good fit. The free consult is the easiest way to find out.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
Romans 5:3–4 (NLT)
